Specimen Required
Collect One 3 mL green (sodium or lithium heparin) top tube.
Transport 0.5 mL plasma, frozen. (Min: 0.25 mL)
Remarks

CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Adults: Fasting Specimen Preferred. Infants/Children: Draw specimen prior to feeding or 2-3 hours after a meal. Separate plasma from cells ASAP and avoid transferring buffy coat material. Freeze ASAP. Clinical information is needed for appropriate interpretation. Additional required information includes age, gender, diet (e.g., TPN therapy), drug therapy, and family history (use Patient History for Biochemical Genetic Testing form; see below).

After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen: 1 month
