One 3 mL green (sodium or lithium heparin) top tube. Separate plasma from cells and freeze ASAP. Also acceptable: one plain red top tube.

Transport 0.5 mL plasma, frozen. (Min: 0.2 mL)
Stability

After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 12 hours; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles).

Unacceptable Conditions Room temperature, refrigerated greater than 12 hours and grossly hemolyzed specimens.
