Platelet Antibodies, Indirect PABIND
|Method(s)||Semi-Quantitative Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay|
One 6 mL serum separator tube (SST).
1 mL serum, frozen (Min: 0.5 mL)
After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 2 days; Frozen: 1 month.
Microbially contaminated, hemolyzed, lipemic, or heat-inactivated samples.
Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection and freeze.
This is the primary test for detection of platelet-specific antibodies. It is not recommended for the diagnosis of immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). This test will detect both alloantibodies and autoantibodies, but will not distinguish between them.
