Collect

One 6 mL green (sodium or lithium heparin) top tube. Plain red (serum) top tubes are also acceptable.

Transport 1 mL plasma, frozen in an amber standardized transport tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)
Stability

Protect from light during collection. After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: 2 months

Unacceptable Conditions

Any specimens other than heparinized plasma or serum. Serum separator (SST) tubes or EDTA preserved tubes. Hemolyzed specimens. Specimens NOT protected from light.
