One 3 mL dark green (sodium or lithium heparin) top tube. Also acceptable: One lavender (EDTA) or one pink (K2EDTA) top tube.

Transport

3 mL whole blood at 2-8°C (Min: 0.6 mL).

Remarks

CRITICAL FROZEN WITHIN 4 HOURS.

For non-hospitalized patients, must be delivered to lab in green critical processing bag and by STAT courier.

Stability Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 4 hours; Frozen: 6 months (-20°C).
Unacceptable Conditions

Clotted samples. Glass tubes, plasma separator tubes, specimens other than whole blood.
