Collect One 5 mL gold (SST) or plain red top tube.
Transport

1 mL serum room temperature. (Min: 0.6 mL) Do NOT refrigerate or freeze.

Remarks

Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Hemolyzed specimens and serum which has not been separated from cells show elevated LD-1, LD-2, LD-3, LD-4 and LD-5 are labile at low temperatures and are erroneously low in samples that have been refrigerated or frozen.

Stability After separation from cells: Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable
Unacceptable Conditions Frozen, refrigerated, or hemolyzed specimens. Specimens collected with EDTA, potassium oxalate, or sodium fluoride anticoagulants.
