Transport

1 mL serum, frozen. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Remarks

CK-MB and CK-BB are quite labile. Samples should be frozen if the assay cannot be performed within 24 hours. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles destroy CK activity.

This test will detect CK macroenzymes.

Stability

After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles).

Unacceptable Conditions

Ambient specimens. Unacceptable sample preservatives: heparin, EDTA, citrate, fluoride or iodoacetate. Grossly hemolyzed specimens.
