Collect | Three 3 mL light green (lithium or sodium heparin) top tubes. Collect on ice. |
Transport | 4 mL plasma, frozen. (Min: 2.1 mL) |
Remarks | Patient should be calm and in a supine position for 30 minutes prior to collection. Plasma should be separated from cells and frozen within 1 hour of collection. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. |
Stability | After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 1 month (-20°C), up to 1 year (-70°C) |
Unacceptable Conditions | EDTA plasma, serum, or urine specimens. |
