New Service for Extragenital Chlamydia and GC Testing
Friday, January 17, 2020
Effective February 4, 2020, the Microbiology Department at Laboratory Alliance of Central New York will be offering a new service for the molecular detection of Chlamydia trachomatis (CHL) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) in throat and rectal specimens. The molecular assay, called Transcription Mediated Amplification (TMA), is identical to the assay used for the detection of CHL and GC in urogenital specimens.
Importantly, a special specimen swab collection kit must be used, depending upon the type of specimen(s) collected.
